Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager leads and supports the software product development teams across multiple projects and workstreams in order to successfully deliver projects, company goals, and product releases in a timely manner. The Engineering Manager comes from a software and product engineering background has a strong engineering mindset and is able to build high-performing teams.

Required tasks and activities:

  • Lead the development activities, organize and lead the release process. 

  • Create processes and systems to ensure effective project management and implement common project management practices across the organization.

  • Measure delivery performance on a consistent basis to identify areas for improvement and provide improvement proposals. 

  • Support, invest in, and develop incredibly talented and motivated engineers with clear expectations through practices such as 1:1s, personal goal setting, and constant feedback. 

  • Collaborate with product leadership in project planning, resource management, dependency management, risk management, and continuous process improvement for an optimal flow of value for customers and the business. 

  • Attract, grow, and retain talent; take action on under-performers to make our engineering team stronger. 

  • Build up a high-performing and positive work environment based on transparency, accountability, and trust. 

  • Create growth opportunities for team members and address gaps by mentoring and performance management. 

  • Connect with management and other teams to unblock dependencies, and provide visibility and transparency to team progress on product initiatives. 

  • Think broadly and cross-functionally when it comes to planning and delivery. 

  • Advocate a culture of knowledge sharing, cultivate learning and avoid knowledge silos in the teams. 

  • Prepare and present progress reports and ensure the project is furthering organizational goals.

  • Continuously improve individual and team effectiveness, and foster innovation. 

  • Participate in the annual Performance Evaluation and Talent Management procedures by providing regular feedback to Project Managers and software developer engineers. 

  • Design the project goals and success markers, determine how success will be measured and tracked and holds the team accountable to them. 

  • Provide guidelines, standards, and processes to support the development process. 

  • Understand the requirements defined by the product management team and work in close cooperation with the product managers and team leaders in order to achieve milestones and project goals. 

  • Foster career growth within the team by taking into account their career goals and looking for ways to provide meaningful development experiences based on their skills and interest. 

  • Provide opportunities to work on next-level assignments that demonstrate readiness for promotion when appropriate. 

  • Close cooperation and communication with all partner departments to ensure the company’s products and services are launched in a coordinated way. 

Requirements: 

Experience: 

  • 5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager with a people management focus 

  • Hands-on experience in the field of software development engineering (coding, maintenance, operations, etc.) 

  • Growing, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to team members including difficult conversations 

  • Building and working in high-performance Scrum software development teams 

  • Building processes and organizational structures to support highly effective teams 

  • Improving the environment in which the software development engineers work 

  • Demonstrated project management experience and skills 

  • You have a growth mindset and are not afraid of changes 

  • You have experience in building remote teams 

Qualification: BSc/MSc degree in economics or Information Technology or similar, PMP certification 

Professional experience (years): minimum 10 years 

Language: Fluent English skills (oral and written)
